Each Camp Fee covers the cost of the Intructor's/Staff's Pay, Materials Needed, and a portion also goes back into our Anchored Scholarship Fund to help support any youth artist's who are unable to afford attending camps.  And because Anchored Creative Arts is a nonprofit, all donations are tax deductible!

Are you itching to write a story? It could be a fantasy or contemporary, historical or hysterical. Whatever you want to write is A-Ok. Come on out to camp and join award-winning author, Joyce Magnin as she gives hands-on tips and ideas and helps you shape your words into a story. You will learn about characters and setting, dialog, plotting and voice. At the end of this six-week course you will hopefully have a story ready to submit for publication.

SCHOOL OF ROCK WITH JACKSON & FRIENDS

Teacher Bio →  

Jackson has been playing music for over 7 years. He is in a number of bands such as the alternative band The Blackout Kings, the jazz band Streetlight, and writes and records symphonic progressive metal by himself. Jackson has performed with professional recording artists such as the band One From Many, Micheal Allen Harrison and his band, Haley Johnson, and Maiah Wynne.

The first couple of weeks we'll be establishing what a band is, how to play with other musicians, and teaching about each of the instruments in a rock band.  Students will pick which instrument they want to play, and begin practicing. Two bands will be formed in the School of Rock, consisting of at least one guitarist, one bassist, one drummer, one keys (piano) player, and one vocalist. Bands can be adjusted depending on how many students sign up. Each band will learn at least one song, and will perform it at the end of summer at the camp showcase.

ANCHORED YOUTH CHOIR WITH MISS CINDY

Teacher Bios →

Cindy has been singing since she was in diapers.  She was a member of many Youth and Church Choirs throughout her life.  She attended the Las Vegas Academy of Performing Arts her freshman year of high school, and was in the College Singers at the College of Southern Nevada.  Cindy was a Demo Singer at NacTrax Studio, and has most recently turned her focus to songwriting.  She was the Music Specialist at New Horizons Academy, a K-12th Grade Special Education school, where her love for teaching began.  She is currently a Worship Leader at Crossroads Community Church in Vancouver, WA, and has been featured on their albums, Your Kingdom is Here and No Name is Higher.  Her passion is to see children discover and grow into their gifts and talents!

KOOKY KRAFTS WITH MISS TASHERA

Ages 5-12 (Flexible...because we know kids of all ages love monsters :))

12-24 (2-4 scholarships)

On Monday & Tuesday Students will be creating their very own personalized clay monsters!  Monday is design and molding day. We will be viewing the movie Monster's Inc. while we create to get inspiration.  Snacks provided will be monster themed! Tuesday is decorating day & Story Writing!  We will be viewing the movie Monster's University while decorating our Monsters.  We will also have Monster Cookies (Allergy Friendly) to decorate and eat!

On Wednesday & Thursday Students will be creating their very own personalized wooden robots!  Wednesday is design day. We will be viewing the movie Robots while we create to get inspiration.  Snacks provided will be Robot themed! Thursday is decorating day & Story Writing!  We will be viewing Wall-E while decorating our Robots.  We will also have Robot Cookies (Allergy Friendly) to decorate and eat! 

 

August 21st & 23rd:: Monday & Wednesday :: 10AM-12PM ::Personalized Plushies::

Ages 8-18

12-24 (2-4 scholarships)

Students will be creating their very own personalized plushy!  Monday is design day.  Children will be drawing their own character, and creating their patterns. We will be viewing the movie Toy Story I while we create to get inspiration.  Wednesday is sewing, decorating day & Story Writing!  We will be viewing Toy Story 2 while decorating our Plushies.

 

August 21st & 23rd:: Monday & Wednesday :: 10AM-12PM :: Metal Robot Lights :: 

Ages 12-18

12-24 (2-4 scholarships)

Students will be creating their very own personalized metal robot lights!  Monday is design & Basic Construction. Wednesday is decorating & Lighting.

CARDS FOR A CAUSE WITH MISS SHELLY

Each week we will be creating Cards for a Cause, that will include inspiring art and a message; we will then send the cards to a different group of people each week, who are in need of a smile!  We will go on nature walks to collect flowers to dry, and also make other arts a craft projects to give as gifts, and keepsakes to take home.  If your child chooses, they may submit their art to be donated to Cards for a Cause to raise money for different charities that Anchored Creative Arts partners with.  This camp is an excellent outlet for young artist's to be able to explore and express their creativity, while fostering a heart for giving to those in need.

Local singer/songwriter and full-time performing/recording artist, Caryn Jamieson. 

15 years of songwriting experience.

Self-produced album, Fairer Days, in 2014.

Time :: 9am-12pm ::

We will learn about lyrics, melody, phrasing, hooks, basic music theory & composition. 

How to draw inspiration from our surroundings and tap into our creative side. 

Goal = to have a song (or more) written and ready to perform at our End of Summer Showcase & Celebration,  August 27th, 3-6pm. 

Practical and easy tools to take home and apply daily at home.
